Happy Working Lab A New Beginning

Designing Work and Living Experiences That Put People First

January 2026 marks a new chapter for Happy Working Lab.

Not because we are changing direction, but because we are making it clearer.

After more than a decade working in coworking and coliving — as consultants, operators, and community builders — we are entering this new phase with a refreshed identity and a sharper focus on what truly matters: creating spaces and experiences where people can work better, live better, and connect with intention.

Our vision remains the same.
What’s changed is how we structure and express what we do.

Today, Happy Working Lab operates through three clearly defined business lines, each with a specific role and purpose, all connected by practice, experimentation, and real experience.

Consulting Is Our Core

Happy Lab, our consultancy arm, remains the foundation of Happy Working Lab.

For over ten years, we’ve supported founders, asset owners, developers, and organisations in developing coworking and coliving projects that are not only inspiring, but also viable, resilient, and human-centred.

We support our clients across the full journey, including:

  • Business model definition and validation
  • Space strategy and spatial layout
  • Financial feasibility and risk assessment
  • Community and operational strategy
  • Technology strategy and digital tools
  • Hands-on support during the launch phase, or full launch execution

What defines our approach is simple: we don’t advise from theory.

We develop from our lived experience — from operating spaces ourselves, from projects that succeeded, from those that had to pivot, and from decisions made under real constraints.

This perspective allows us to be honest, practical, and clear. We know where projects usually fail, where expectations tend to be unrealistic, and how small early decisions shape long-term outcomes.

This is why consulting comes first.
Everything else exists to reinforce it.

We’re Opening a Coworking Space in January

If consulting is our main business, why open a coworking space now?
Because credibility matters — and so does experimentation.

On January 7, 2026, we will open Happy Working, our new coworking space located in the historic Can Nadal building in Caldes d’Estrac, on the north coast of Barcelona.

We operate our own coworking space because it allows us to experiment, test methodologies, and refine processes that we later apply with our consulting clients.

Happy Working is not just a place to work.
It’s a real-life testing ground.

We’re creating a coworking model that also functions as a wellness and social club — a place to focus and get work done, to take care of body and mind, and to network without forcing it. A place where professional growth and human connection coexist naturally.

Our coworking plans integrate:

  • Wellbeing activities such as yoga and fitness
  • Knowledge-driven activities like workshops, talks, and professional meet-ups
  • Social and cultural activities designed to have fun, connect, and make real friends

Because productivity doesn’t grow in isolation.
It grows when focus, wellbeing and social connection are in balance.

We also genuinely enjoy challenges. We’re opening a 1000 sqm coworking space in a small coastal town, where coworking still needs to be explained, where working from home is the main competitor, and where education is part of the process.

But we’re convinced of two things:

  • The benefits of coworking over working alone are undeniable
  • More and more professionals will choose to live and work in places like Caldes d’Estrac — close to nature, close to the sea, well connected to the city, and far from the noise

This context makes Happy Working even more valuable as operator proof and as a learning platform for our consulting work.

Coliving: A Glocal Community Beyond a Single Place

Some of you know us through Kalima.

While we are no longer operating that space, the community that emerged from it is still very much alive — and it continues to shape how we think about coliving.

With Happy Living, we are evolving towards curated coliving retreats in different locations around the world, designed to keep that community connected and active.

At the heart of this approach is what we call a glocal community. A glocal community is formed by people who live globally but connect locally. It brings together international and local remote workers, entrepreneurs, and creatives from different countries who share values, rhythms of life, and a desire to build meaningful relationships wherever they go.

Places change.
People are not replaceable.

That’s why location matters, but always comes second to the human layer.

Our upcoming coliving retreats are designed to:

  • Reconnect a mixed community of international and local remote workers across locations
  • Create deep, intentional shared experiences
  • Maintain continuity beyond a single building
  • Explore new ways of living and working together

This is not about replicating Kalima.
It’s about keeping its spirit alive in a more flexible and future-ready format.

Three Lines, One Shared Approach

Rather than separate worlds, we see our work as three interconnected practices:

  • Consulting gives us perspective, structure, and impact at scale
  • Coworking keeps us grounded in daily operations and experimentation
  • Coliving allows us to explore community beyond fixed locations

Each one informs the others continuously and strengthens how we work with our clients.

This shared, experience-led approach is what defines Happy Working Lab today.

Ready to Join the Next Chapter?

Over the years, we’ve built much more than projects.
We’ve built a community.

An ecosystem made up of industry peers, founders, operators, coworkers and colivers; people who believe in better ways of working, living and connecting. Some are building spaces, others work from them, others live in them. What connects us is curiosity, experience and a shared way of seeing the world.

There are many ways to be part of this community:
If you want to connect on the business side — projects, strategy, insights and industry conversations — follow us on LinkedIn.
If you want to experience the community from the inside — coworking life, coliving retreats and everyday moments — find us on Instagram.
